LABELS Collide Prog-Psych Jams with Hardcore Freak-Out on "Tech Death"

On October 9, Fort Worth's LABELS release "Tech Death," the second single from their upcoming EP Live To Revive — and it's a proper banger.

The song is a head-on collision of two worlds: the sprawling, kaleidoscopic prog-psych jamming of Oh Sees and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, pushed through a robotic tone and techy riffs, then driven straight through the band's own freak-out hardcore instincts. It's the sound of a band that clearly isn't interested in picking a lane.

The idea behind the song is just as of-the-moment. Technology is attached to everything now, and the band says it's frying our brains. In their words:

"Everything is associated with technology today, and it makes our brain feel fried. Playing the music we do can hopefully bring people together and live in the moment."

It follows a strong opening to the EP campaign. Joyzine premiered the first single "Void"  and called the track a "3-act psych-rock opera," while Spanish-language outlet Rock and Roll Army gave "Void" a world-exclusive premiere as its song of the day. And on October 7 — two days before "Tech Death" arrives — the band just opened for Jack White at The Bomb Factory in Dallas.

The full EP, Live To Revive, lands October 29 via Spaceflight Records.
